ROBBIE WILLIAMS TOPS BRITISH POP SALES
Robbie Williams claims the title of Britain's biggest-selling pop act of the still-very-young 21st century, with a total of over 6.3 million albums sold since 2000.
The hugely popular Williams clinched the best male performer prize at the MTV Europe Music Awards recently, and he is currently at the top of the British album charts as well with his sixth solo release, "Intensive Care."
Chris Martin's band Coldplay was close behind with 6.2 million for their three albums, all of which were released since the start of the millennium.
Singer-songwriter Dido found herself in a very respectable third place, having notched up 5.7 million sales for her two albums in the last five years, followed by controversial American rapper Eminen with 4.7 million albums sold, and Westlife with 4.2 million rounding off the top five.
The list was compiled for "The Biggest Selling Artists of the 21st Century," which was broadcast on Sunday on Channel Four television.
The figures were based on sales of albums released since January 2000. They do not include greatest-hits collections, live albums or downloads.
